43-YEAR-OLD SON TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR ATTEMPTING TO MURDER HIS FATHER BY STABBING HIM IN THE FACE AND MOUTH AFTER FINDING OUT THE VICTIM WAS CUTTING HIM OFF FINANCIALLY
SANTA ANA – A 43-year-old son is to be arraigned for attempting to murder his father by stabbing him several times in the face and mouth after learning that the victim was cutting him off financially. Milorad Teodor Olic, Santa Ana, is charged with one felony count of attempted murder and one felony count of elder abuse with sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury to an elder and personal use of a deadly weapon. If convicted, Olic faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison. The people will be requesting that the defendant is being held on $1 million bail at his arraignment tomorrow, Feb. 19, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ1, Central Jail Court, Santa Ana.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., on Feb. 15, 2010, Olic is accused of getting into an argument while driving with his father, 80-year-old John Doe, as they were looking for an apartment for the defendant. John Doe had been financially supporting the victim for the past 18 years. The defendant is accused arguing with victim after being told by John Doe that he would no longer financially support him. Olic is accused of getting out of the car and stabbing the victim several times in the face and inside mouth. The defendant is accused of fleeing the scene on foot. John Doe was able to get out the car and get help. The victim was transported to a hospital to be treated for his stab wounds and remains in critical condition. Later that day, Olic was arrested by Santa Ana police outside of his apartment complex.
